Residential Architect Day

Is today ‘help me find a residential architect day’ or something? Seriously, if I had a nickel for every time somebody asked me where they could find the best architect in the area, I’d have two nickels – which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it has happened twice. I guess the recent changes in the economy have people thinking about buying houses again. Must be nice.

It does kind of hurt, knowing that these two strangers are in a position to build their own house, leading to their search for trustworthy residential architects near Brighton. Meanwhile, I barely have $100 saved in my bank account. It’s really difficult being a household with only one income. These days, it seems like you need two people working full-time jobs to even start thinking about buying a house.

I mean, I don’t even know how much an architect would cost, because I’ve never even thought to look it up. How much does an architect cost? I’ve heard that architects get paid pretty well, so it must be more than the two nickels I would have made in the hypothetical I presented at the start of this blog post. But then again, maybe architects just get paid really well for working on the biggest projects, like skyscrapers and churches. For the architects that only design residential buildings, how well are they doing in the financial department?

Now, I don’t want to come across as too bitter here. I do hope those two strangers I briefly met find the architect they are looking for. Everyone deserves to have a roof over their head – especially a nice one that you had built based on your own vision. But it would be nice to even feel like I can imagine my dream house. If I try to picture it now, it’s just an empty void in my mind. Just like my hopes for the future!

Maybe everything will sort itself out and the property market will magically go back to how it was 50 years ago. And hey, while I’m at it, maybe pigs will learn to fly, too!
