New Hardware Store?

Harvey drove toward the hardware store like a madman. Under normal circumstances, Harvey almost certainly would have perished in a horrific accident, far too gruesome to describe. However, Harvey went all in on betting that the narrator would keep him alive by simply writing that he made it to the store safely.

It was a good bet, for the narrator really didn’t want to come up with another story to write, so they decided that despite Harvey’s unfathomably dangerous driving, they would allow him to get to the hardware store close to Sandringham safely.

“Hold on, why am I at a Sandringham hardware store?” Harvey asked upon checking the mapping app on his phone and realising he’d driven to the wrong place. “Is this because I drove like crazy? What’s going on?”

The narrator laughed and told Harvey that they simply had to address certain things in each story, meaning that sometimes internal consistency can be lacking when it comes to ongoing stories that are strung together. In about two hundred words, they’d probably be at another store all of a sudden to get timber supplies. Cheltenham, Hampton or any other suburb in the Bayside area could be a possible location.

Not quite sure he understood, Harvey shrugged and got out of the car, heading toward the best hardware store Sandringham had to offer. As he stepped inside, he felt a peculiar pull toward the nearest item: a shiny metal bucket displayed proudly at the front of the shop.

“What is this bucket?” Harvey asked the narrator. “And why do I want to hold it so much?”

The narrator remained silent, deciding that it would be best for Harvey to figure out this mystery on his own.

Harvey’s heart thumped quicker with each step as he approached the bucket. Sweat trickled down the sides of his face. Something about this bucket was simply remarkable. As he reached it, Harvey inspected the bucket from all sides, finding a sticker that read ‘Harvey’s Bucket’.

What adventures would Harvey and the bucket have together? Only time would tell.
